Biographical information

Tom Weaver is 54 years old and has been married to his wife Jean for 32 years. Before entering the ministry he worked primarily in the wood products industry. He was a foreman in a pallet factory for three years, for five years he owned and operated a small sawmill with ten employees and was later a superintendent in a plywood plant. Sensing a concern to have his life count for Christ, he went back to school in his mid-thirties. He graduated from Multnomah School of the Bible when he was 36 years old. His pastoral ministry has all been with Village Missions, a rural home mission that provides leadership to rural churches in the United States and Canada.

After a four month internship in a church in Northern California, Village Missions sent him and his family to Crosby Chapel, about fifteen minutes West of Bremerton Washington. Tom has been privileged to pastor the same church for over seventeen years. They have been kind to him and the Lord has blessed the work.

His practice has been to preach systematically through books of the Bible. Over the time he has been at Crosby he has preached through every book of the New Testament except for Matthew and Revelation. For the first ten years of pastoring, he would not preach from Matthew, Mark, or Luke because of theological problems he encountered with the sayings of Jesus. As he struggled with the theological problems, he noticed that some in the congregation were suffering from emotional/spiritual problems that could be traced back to these same statements of Jesus. One day he sat down with the story of the rich young ruler and sought to understand Jesus. The opening of that story led him to the principles of interpretation upon which The Gospel Solution is based. These principles have enabled him to preach through Mark and Luke in his pulpit ministry. He has also studied Matthew with these principles in mind and is anticipating preaching through Matthew in the year 2000. He and his wife Jean have two children; Tom junior age 30, and Tammy age 28. Tom junior is a lawyer living in the Bremerton area. Tammy is a homemaker living with her husband Scott and their three children. They are blessed in that all the family is active in their church.
